What a beautiful story of snuffles...

A reader of my blog who would like to stay anonymous, and I will grant him his wish, sent me such a wonderful story of how he got his first snuffles. I will not say anything more, just read below for his story:

Hello everyone,

I have something to share about the wonderful, mysterious, special bear that snuffles can be in our hearts and in our minds.

This story needs a little background context. I first met snuffles in a Bloo cotton body. My older sister had named him “Cloud.” I was 12 at the time and wanted him more than anything in the world, since not only was he a blue colored bear, but he also looked kindly and had a moon on his stomach. As I grew older, I didn’t think about him anymore.

In my senior year at high school, I had my first real relationships. And, as all first relationships seem to go, it was tumultuous and ended horribly. When I was about to attend a university that was several hundred miles away from home, all I could do was think about my ex girlfriend. I confided to my sister my own feelings of sadness and depression. My sister told me late in February that a surprise was arriving in the mail.

On February 2, 2005, I opened up the fedexed box and look inside to see a brand new Snuffles bear! Sherry was ten inches, completely white like the moon, incredibly soft, and very friendly looking. I couldn’t hold back after seeing the happy little bear staring back at me and started to cry. My sister remembered how much I loved Cloud and realized that a little tender loving care from another Snuffles might soothe my heartache.

For months, the little white bear and I would sit in front of my computer monitor typing away essays, curling up together to study for exams, or sitting together watching a movie. When I slept and she fell off the bed in the middle of the night, I would look for her. When I was sad and needed a hug, she smiled and opened up her arms to me. And when I didn’t have anyone to talk to, I talked to her and told her my dreams, hopes, and wishes. Sherry saved me. She saved me from my sadness and loneliness.

Today, I have a new girlfriend who loves me for me, and I’m attending professional school, which is another stressing problem. However, Sherry still sits on my bed waiting for me to hug her and sleeps next to me every day. Shari still studies for exams with me. And, she still watches TV with me. Shari is as large a part of me as she was a long time and since then we’ve expanded her family to include other Snuffles (most notably my own Bloo cotton Snuffles, a 25th anniversary blush snuffles, a 30th anniversary 15” dark brown Snuffles, and a 30th anniversary limited edition 13” silver tipped Snuffles body replacement for my Sherry).

Snuffles is truly a great bear. What other bear listens to your secrets and never wants more than to hug you? What other bear looks up to the sky and sends your wishes and dreams to the moon? What other bear could love you more?

Thank you Gund. Thank you Snuffles. Thank you Sherry!

Are you ready for some football?

Just sitting at home watching the game.

Dear Katie, thank you from Mimi for buying her big snuffles!

Mimi asked me today to write a thank you note on my blog to Katie, who bought the large snuffles below. Mimi's sister has an illness that cannot be healed, and she is in intensive care and right now noone knows how many days she has left. Mimi needs the money to help her sister. Mimi says thank you, Katie.

Mimi emailed me offering her snuffles to me about 2 weeks. I get a lot of emails, but her email communication has been the most touching since I run this blog. Her sister is only 28 years old and is so ill that she may not have much longer to live. It is so incredibly sad to hear something like this, when a young person is leaving us way too early. We are all aware that life is not endless, yet we do not expect that a young person has such an early fate. Mimi is paying her sister's hospital bills and therefore sold the snuffles.

Thank you!

Price watch: The cream mohair snuffles (large 16inch) sold for only $326

This was only the second cream mohair snuffles I have seen on ebay, and it was not marketed so well, so the final price ended up being rather low compared to the last auction, where this bear fetched over 700 USD. This time it went for 326 USD.

With some luck I found an old pricelist and this snuffles sold for appx. 200 USD originally.

Below is a catalogue photo, thanks to Jan.

New 15 inch Chocolate Snuffles

This is the new 15 inch Chocolate Snuffles sitting next to Bex and Marvie.  Isn't she massive?!  In fact, she's actually 25 inches from tail to the tip of her nose.  Not sure why Gund is calling her a 15 inch...  - Sophia
