Followup to Auction of a 3ft tall white Snuffles

This has to be the highest price paid for any snuffles sofar: 850 US Dollars. This was a 1995 white FAO 3ft tall snuffles, credit for the pictures goes to Ebayid: sterling_mommy

This is a unique Millenium Snuffles 20 inch tall

This snuffles seems to be pretty unique, his fur is curly, and his nose is not flocked. He may be a misproduction snuffles. He is the smaller sized 20 inch snuffles, there is also a 30 inch millenium snuffles. Check the link to the current ebay auction, and after this auction ends, I will add pictures from the auction to this blog for future reference.

Auction of a 3ft tall white Snuffles

I wonder how this auction will end after a tan 2 ft tall snuffles reached 325 Dollars. Will the white 3 ft tall snuffles sell for more? I think the tan colored snuffles is really the signature snuffles. Curious to see what will happen.

Rare Snuffles?

I have always wondered which snuffles are really rare, and would like to find out what other snuffles collectors are thinking?

This is a link to a collector's opinion:
Rare Snuffles

I personally think, that maybe some handmade Snuffles are rare, and the 25th anniversary 20 inch Snuffles may be pretty rare? Has it been produced in limited production? I do not know for sure.

My Snuffles blog

My snuffles blog lives of the cooperation of other snuffles owners. Even though I have dozens of snuffles myself, from a 4 inches small one with stitched nose to 30 inches tall, I still miss a lot of snuffles. Over time, I plan to acquire many more to complete my collection. At the moment, I have a 200 sqft room where the snuffles live on a bed only for them and in a glass closet that exhibits and protects them. I am lucky that my fiancee loves them as well. My collection exhibits a lot of steiff bears as well, vintage Steiff bears as well as recent ones.

Auction results of snuffles

A two feet tall tan Snuffles hit another record as far as I know. US$325 for this Snuffles was never seen before. I have one like it sitting at home, never thought it could become "investment worthy", better than certificates of some banks for sure. I bought mine in 1998 as I recall at FAO in Chicago.

The auction link will be good for three months only as Ebay takes them down after that. Worth a look:

Paddington bear celebrates 50th birthday

Paddington Bear is a fictional character in children's literature. He first appeared on 13 October 1958[1] and was subsequently featured in several books, most recently in 2008, written by Michael Bond and first illustrated by Peggy Fortnum. The polite immigrant bear from Darkest Peru, with his old bush hat, battered suitcase and marmalade sandwiches has become a classic English children's literature icon.[2] Paddington books have been translated into thirty languages across seventy titles and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. Over 265 licensees, making thousands of different products across the UK, Europe, USA, Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia and South Africa all benefit from the universal recognition of Paddington Bear.[3]

Paddington is an anthropomorphised bear. He is always polite (always addressing people as "Mr.", "Mrs." and "Miss" and very rarely by first names) and well-meaning (though he inflicts hard stares on those who incur his disapproval). He likes marmalade sandwiches and cocoa, and has an endless capacity for getting into trouble. However, he is known to "try so hard to get things right".

Polarbear Knut and his father, who died recently

In the wake of the recent death of Knut's father, Thomas Doerflein, I looked around for some interesting blogs and articles on Knut, and I liked this one, it is unfortunately in German:

Polarbear Knut in German

Snuffles pictures and their respective photographers

I have collected endless pictures of tons of snuffles on my computer, and when I started doing this, I never thought about that I may like to post them one day in a blog. Obviously, I do not own all of the snuffles I present here. I created this blog to entertain snuffles collectors and lovers, of which I have found a lot to be out there. If I use pictures that you know you originated, just let me know. My primary purpose of this blog is to show the endless variety of snuffles that were made in the past 27-28 years. I have no intention to ignore anyone's work or contribution, but I did not keep track of everything to begin with. If you feel neglected, let me know, I will take care of you and post your attribution. This is to be fun and entertaining. Let's keep it that way. Last but not least, I hope that this blog can be educational about Snuffles, its history, the company behind them, and the various sizes and colors and different variations as well as the different snuffleses produced in different countries and for different purposes, such as the baby rattle snuffles, the big sized snuffles and limited editions for collectors. As Gund seems to be fading out Snuffles, this bear has a place in history.

I am running this blog on top of another blog, and on top of a 7 days a week dayjob that keeps me busy in average more than 14 hours a day. So bear with me. Hope my visitors enjoy this blog nevertheless and I am always open for suggestions and corrections.

3 Pottery Barn Snuffles

These are Baby Gund Snuffles with stitched noses. They are about 6-7 inches tall only. Very cute. Initially I thought these were Pottery Barn Snuffles, but that is wrong.

Just bears and stuff

Another blog on bears

Some thought on Snuffles and some experiences lately

Recently I bought a large 30" Millenium Snuffles from someone online who had excellent feedback established over a long period of time on Ebay and the Snuffles Forum. However, I never received the item, and there is absolutely no response by email. A paypal dispute ended unanswered, and paypal agreed that I am entitled to a refund, however, they cannot refund me because the person has no funds in their account. How funny is that? Strange behaviour of the seller to say the least. Is this a sign of the economy? Even in this hobby of lovely cute teddybears we have to watch out not to get screwed? I wonder what is next? This is just infinitely sad.
